Mother St. Augustin Tranchepain (ca 1680-1733: Missionary to the Colonies) was among the Ursulines who landed in New Orleans in 1727, inspiring this late nineteenth century painting, Landing of the Ursulines, by Paul Poincy.

  

 

 
The packet boat Pennsylvania, which exploded on the Mississippi 13 June 1858. Mother Caroline Friess (1824-1892: Risking in Faith) was rescued from the accident; Father John Mary Delcros (1822-1858: A Life of Promise Cut Short) lost his life.
